A young girl called ‘Amy’, only 13 years old wrote this after the word one Sunday Morning at the Bridge Church Fellowship in Coventry in January 2005
TO SOAR TO HEAVEN
I often dream about flying, I’m sure many people do, but the closest we can probably ever come to it is going in an airplane, or a micro light or hot air balloon. In fact, the closest I have ever come to flying is going in an airplane or climbing a mountain or high hill. I remember getting to the top, breathless but exited, and I would stand there and look at the amazing view and listen to the peaceful silence.
But you know, there is another way we can fly. It’s called Spirit riding—riding the wave of the Spirit. All you have to do is ask God to take you there. It’s like climbing a hill, it’s breathless but exciting. You know, it’s probably like a surfer. A surfer can stand on the shore and look longingly at the big waves out in the ocean, wishing that they would come to him. But they won’t, because the closer to shore they come, the smaller they get. The surfer has to go to them.
We can stand at a distance and look longingly at the waves of the Spirit, but they won’t come to us. From far off we can only see, and perhaps feel a little, but we don’t get the full inpact. We need to go to the Spirit and to God. Imagine a little kid reaching for a toy or a cookie jar on the top shelf, they really want that thing.
ASK yourself: Do I want to reach out, touch the ’Rim of Heaven’, and ’Ride the Wave of the Spirit?’ |
